Visiting London

London is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and certainly the number one destination for visitors in the UK. For many of you, this may not be your first time in the capital city, but if it is, here are some useful tips for your visit.

Museums and galleries

No visit to London is complete without checking out its fantastic selection of museums and galleries, many of which are free to visit and close to where the conference is held. Kensington is home to iconic museums, such as the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), which are all around a 15 minute walk from the SCAPR General Assembly conference venue (the Royal Garden Hotel). Also nearby to the conference venue is the Royal Albert Hall, which has a number of performances and guided tours.

During the time of the conference, there will be a major exhibition named ‘Crown to Couture’ held at Kensington Palace, which may be of interest given the Coronation of King Charles on 6 May. You can find out more about the exhibition here.

Royal parks

London offers a number of beautiful green spaces, which are free to visit and open every day of the year. The conference venue overlooks one of London’s most iconic parks, Hyde Park, which includes the Serpentine lake and waterside café. It is perfect for tennis, jogging and cycling, as well as having plenty of quiet places to relax and unwind.
